GIS information
encompasses practically every aspect of daily life. As more of our
world is modeled with GIS, the amount of information compiled grows
exponentially. Consequently, it is important that GIS data is properly
organized to allow people to efficiently make use of this information.
Pueblo
County's numerous GIS data layers are organized thematically, based
upon guidelines from the Federal Geographic Data Committee and modified
slightly to meet Pueblo County's needs.
Imagery
includes aerial photography, which is an essential component in Geographic
Information Systems. Pueblo County currently possesses the following
aerial imagery:
- 1-foot pixel full color aerial photography (acquired spring 2004) covering Pueblo, Pueblo West and the St. Charles Mesa;
- 2-foot pixel full color aerial photography (acquired summer 2004) covering Pueblo County in its entirety;
- B&W 6-inch pixel aerial photography (acquired spring 2001) covering Pueblo, Pueblo West and the St. Charles Mesa;
- full-color 5-meter pixel satellite imagery (acquired summer 2002) covering Pueblo County in its entirety;
- full-color, 1-meter pixel satellite imagery (acquired January 2001) covering the Colorado City area;
- full-color, 1-meter pixel satellite imagery (acquired spring 2002) covering Beulah, Rye and the mountainous areas in SW Pueblo County;
- full-color, 1-meter pixel satellite imagery (acquired spring 2002) covering the Arkansas River basin east of the St. Charles Mesa;
- B&W 2-meter aerial photography (acquired spring 1991) covering Pueblo County in its entirety.
